ACER laptop battery problem
My acer5580 can only be used when the AC is plugged in. And when the AC is plugged in, it doesn't charge at all.But the plug-looking icon at the taskbar says "Maximum performance 255% remaining".When I check the battery information from Acer ePower Management, remaining battery life says, "AC only", and further details look like this:
Battery remaining:
Battery Life in standby mode ~
Battery Life in hibernation mode ~
Before all of this has happened...
3 months ago: the battery life got stuck at 54%
1 month ago: the battery life got stuck at 33%
1 week ago: the battery life got stuck at 4%
now: when I remove the AC, the laptop turns off (like the battery's dead).what could be the problem?
Your best bet is to get a new battery. A new one can be had on eBay for around $40.As a future note, to prevent your battery from dying very quickly (all batteries experience wear and tear from normal use), remove it when you do have your AC adapter plugged in. Never let the charge drop to a very low level (20% is my rule). To maximize the battery's life, drain it once a week to 80%, then charge it back up again. And my brother have the same problem with his Acer 5920, and have done from day one. It will hold charge for maximum 10 minutes.
At the end,my father tell us that Its very common in laptops for the charger to stop working. Also if your battery goes dead flat, good chance that will damage the battery. You would assume the laptop is faulty in the charger, and you also may need a new battery for your best needs.
How to trace the DELL Laptop owner from its battery Number information?
I bought a Brand New Dell Laptop Inspiron and after a presentation in a college, I left it for a while for lunch break during which, my laptop battery has been replaced with another lower version old battery . After two weeks, when I checked for the power it was not working and to my surprise, I found that the battery numbers inside the battery slot and the number that is pasted on the battery itself were not matching and I realised that I have been cheated by somebody. Is there any way to find out the culprit by tracking the battery number which is pasted on the battery.
It only will apply if someone goes to get it (battery) repaired or diagnosed. the person that stole your laptop battery already has the same make and model as you, thats why it got swapped.Your screwd. just break down and buy a new battery. there isnt a way for you to track them down, Dell's not giving data away. Also, because its a new battery, and they wont have problems with it for awhile, After your support expires.lessons learned, dont leave stuff lying around or atleast not locked up, or downsize and get a mini/netbook and haul that around instead.
First,Check if that's how it is, maybe you just have a defective battery, if not then perhaps, but you can narrow down the number of people who could have stolen it by seeing who owns a dell, obviously, in case you didn't know that. Secondly, the physical appearances of dell batteries have changed over time, so since the battery you have is probably a year or two old, you can match the battery that you have in your possession with the inspiron model numbers that use that specific battery model. This should also narrow down the list of Dell inspiron computer users to the specific inspiron models that use that battery. If you're lucky you should be able to narrow it down to a handful of people who still take care of their laptops and havent gotten it stolen.
However, you must also consider the possibility that the person who stole your battery also had their battery stolen which would lead you to a dead end.
What can i do for preserving my laptop battery?
I just got a laptop, it's a Apple A1175. There's a 6-cell battery that comes with it, and the battery can last for 500 charge cycles. When the battery is full, should i:
1. Disconnect the adapter, and let the laptop run on battery and charge it again when i depletes?
2. Continue using the battery adapter though my battery is full?
3. Take out the battery, and continue using the battery adapter?
Which of these is the best way to preserve the battery lifespan and charge capacity?
Choice 1 is the best to preserve your laptop battery lifespan. But if you are a person who is not lazy, make sure you ALWAYS take out your battery if you are using adapter. Use your battery only when you don't have your adapter with you and charge your battery only when its not 100%. Once its 100% fully charged , immediately take it out.Don't ever believe anyone who tell you that the battery lifespan will be the same even if you charge it when its fully charged. It will kill your battery.
I've proven this as a surefire way of preserving your laptop's battery life.
-only use your laptop in battery mode, avoid using it while charging.
-after draining the battery for a minimum of 10% juice, charge it while you sleep.
-use the lowest screen brightness possible, this takes a lot less toll on your battery.
-never do benchmarking and dvd burning while you're on battery, too much load can make your battery suffer.
-lastly, never use your laptop while in battery mode and attach a heavy draining hardware, such as laptop fans or charging iPods.
hope that helps you co'z it works for me. my old laptop (a satellite too.)still has it's battery running like the day we bought it, now I've given to my youngest nephew.Disconnect the adapter, and let the laptop run on battery and charge it again when i depletes. This way, you won't shorten the capacity of your battery and would avoid you from having to do recalibration just to restore the battery's original status. It also lengthens battery life.
What is the best choice for laptop battery ?
I Usually work with my laptop at home so I usually have external power source , and I dont need to use battery , what should I do to increase battery life? take it off once it is fully charged ? take it off around 10% charged ? or dont take it off?
When using a laptop as a desktop replacement the battery should not be left in for long periods of time. The laptop will over time discharge the battery. Remove the battery – making sure that it is charged to 40% and store it in a dry, warm place. Ensure that it is wrapped protectively and nothing will be dropped on it.
The battery should be re-installed every 3-4 weeks and allowed to fully discharge. Leaving a battery in storage for longer than this without using could cause the battery to fully discharge as the circuitry of the battery itself consumes power.
Leaving a battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will keep the battery in a constant state of charging up and that will reduce the life cycle of the battery.
The other is to keep the battery in and fully discharge it once a month. Then recharge it. If your battery is in your laptop, think of it being like a backup power device. If your power goes off or glitches you could lose what you were working on if your battery is out. You should get 2 to 3 years out of a battery and maybe 300 recharges before it starts going bad. To me the security of not losing files I am working on is worth it keeping the battery in. My wife's laptop has a 4-5 year old battery in it, she keeps it in all the time and still gets about 85% battery strength.
Did IBM laptop bios password crack needed?
My laptop's motherboard laptop battery failed and it says to login to bios to set time and date correctly. Someone has put password in bios and now i cannot enter bios. Also i cannot login to windows without correcting time and date from bios. How do i crack it?I know from others that if i open the battery from the IBM laptops motherboard it will be completely destroyed.
It is a complex procedure. I am giving it to you in step by step fashion. First you download "key enterprise edition" from www.softarchive.net. It is an ISO file. Burn it on your CD.Take out hat CD. Reboot and press Del key you will get into BIOS. Their change the boot from HDD(hard disk drive) to CD ROM group or the drive name where you will load the CD.Restart you will find dos prompt ie C:> you have nothing to do with it. After a while it will give you the name of partition on which password has been applied. Do what your screen says. Change from bios to boot from HDD, you will find no password. If you can't do it contact me on my email. Is it a answer to be adjudged best?
Remove the battery and wait abot 15 mins then replace with new one....this should clear bios setiings and the password too.then when you boot it should go directly to the bios asking for the date and time.

How Do I Get More Battery Life Out of My Laptop?
I have a Toshiba Satellite brand laptop and, when I have it running on it's battery power, I only get a minute or so before it automatically goes into standby mode when it runs out of power. How do I get more power out of my laptop battery?
Additional Details
I have tried changing the power settings for it. When I first unplug the power cord when it is fully charged, it will say I have over an hour of battery life left, but within a minute or so, it will tell me i have 3 minutes or less left on the battery.
The battery is dead; it is no longer capable of holding much of a charge, and it will need to be replaced. Replacement batteries are fairly easy to find, but sometimes expensive.
In terms of preserving the life of your new battery, try to keep the battery cool. Computers often heat up when they're left running or are used on a soft surface. To preserve battery life, use your computer on a hard surface and keep it away from heat sources. If you're on AC power for long periods, it will help to take the battery out.
Finally,I buy a brand new laptop battery from online battery shop www.battery-retailer.com very good, low price, high quality!
How come my laptop battery dies out a lot and take forever to charge up?
I just bought new battery and it's my 3rd time buying my ac adapter. my ac adapter always get extremly hot and when my laptop battery is going low it take about 2 hours to charge it back up to 100%. Usually it takes less thant 40 minute to charge it back to full charge. Anyone knows what's wonrg. Sometimes my air vent on the bottom of my laptop get hot too even though I do not cover it up too.
Laptop batteries can be overpriced and not always get you the battery life you need. Hot ac adapters are fairly common computers and laptops. Even if it's new, you may have gotten a bad battery. Refurbished batteries usually have a 30-day warranty and cost a small fraction of the price as new. You might search for a refurb battery for your laptop just to confirm that it is the battery that's the problem and not the laptop.
Maybe I need to buy a replacement battery for my laptop, www.battery-retailer.com provide excellent customer service. Universal laptop battery will work for you how do you know?
I'm looking into buying a universal laptop battery to extend the battery life of my laptop (hp dv2000) which has a resounding battery life of 2 and a half hours browsing the internet. No, the battery's not old or damaged. That's really how long it lasts. I don't plan on using it away from power for long anyways, but I'd like to have a universal battery just in case, though.
I've been looking at different batteries and stuff and they all say 95% compatible with Apple, Dell, etc. but of course Asus is never on that list. And when I do google searches, anything Asus is their eee PCs. So I don't know if any of these will work for me.
I found one at a really good deal but they don't specify which laptops it will fit (other than 95% of them) and no website anywhere shows you the tips they come with nor their measurements. I don't want to spend the money to find out that it won't fit my laptop.
I guess the question is, are Asus laptop (not netbook) power connectors similar to a bigger laptop manufacturer, like Dell, Compaq, or Hp?
Here you will get the answer for some brand laptop battery information from www.battery-retailer.com .It is the professional website for laptop batteries, camcorder batteries, camera batteries for your best choice!
