Helpful Safety Tips on Using a Cordless Drill
Using a cordless drill can be extremely dangerous. If you aren't careful enough, you could seriously injure yourself. In this article, I, from personal experience, am going to name some extremely helpful tips so you will always use a cordless drill correctly.
One of the first things you should do is keep everyone away from area you are going to drill. If kids are around, they could distract you and you could end up either injuring yourself or others. Clear up the area and ask everyone to go in another room for a moment. It doesn't seem like much of a tip, but trust me, you are going to do a much better job with silence and alone time.
Always carry the drill by the base, but don't carry it with your finger around the trigger. This is just to be safe around corners, because you don't want to accidentally drill someone if they scare you for fun! Carry the drill safe, and if there is a detachable battery, try to keep it detached until you get to the area where you plan on drilling.
Before using the drill, check for any broken parts. If you operate the drill with any broken or loose parts, the drill could break and you could end up seriously hurting yourself. If there are any broken parts, attempt to fix them. If the broken part is unfix-able, you should purchase a new drill.
Don't use a hand for holding the area where you're drilling. This could cause you to screw up your work and start all over again. Instead, use a clamp or something heavy to hold the drilling area down. Also, if you're drilling into a wall, make sure there are no pipes or wires where you are drilling. Drilling into a wire or pipe could cause leaks and power outages. If you drill into a wire, you will be electrically shocked, so be careful and make sure you know what you're drilling into!
When charging a cordless drill battery, make sure the temperature in the charging area isn't too hot or cold. This could cause the battery to either freeze and stop working, or explode and cause a potential fire. With common knowledge, make sure the charging area is just the right temperature.
