How to get them to actually do something about laptop ac adapter?
I have a Toshiba laptop who's AC adapter keeps going bad. I was curious if anyone had suggestions on what could be causing it to go bad so often. It's currently under warranty at Best Buy, so anyone that knows how things work there and how to get them to actually do something about this, advice would be greatly appreciated.
To give a better idea of how often it's gone bad, and how long they've lasted, here are some dates of when I had them replaced:
12/2003 (bought laptop)
11/2004 - first replacement
3/2005 - second replacement
3/2006 - third replacement
7/29/2006 - fourth replacement received
8/10/2006 - fourth replacement starts beeping, fifth replacement received
8/13/2006 - fifth replacement starts beeping
The last one they gave me only lasted 3 days. I waited on bringing it back for service until now, as I needed the laptop for school. I finally brought it in for service on 8/15. About a week ago, they told me they were finished and I could pick it up. When I went in to pick it up, I was told they simply replaced the AC Adapter again. I refused to take the laptop back, and asked them to send it in for service again, this time to figure out what's causing the Laptop AC Adapters to die so often. I called them back today, and was told that their tests couldn't pick up anything wrong with the laptop, and so everything must be normal, and that possibly I was plugging it into a bad outlet. I do not think that is the case, though, as I've lived in at least 3 different places for an extended period of time over the past 2.5 years, and the same problem happened at all 3 places, none of which gave trouble to any other appliances or computers. On top of that, it was always plugged into a surge protector.
I'm supposed to pick up the laptop later today, but still nothing has been done to correct whatever is causing the adapters to die. Any suggestions on what could be causing it? Or how to get Best Buy to actually fix it.my warranty expires in a couple months, so I'd like to get this taken care of before then.
