Laptop Battery Cycle?
Everytime you charge your laptop, I know you use a charge cycle. What if you were charging your laptop while using it, than the laptop battery got full but you still use it while it charges to avoid loss energy. Will doing this use additional battery cycles?
Well if it's a MacBook, MacBook Pro or Air Apple allows a certain number of limits for cycling a battery knowing this one should should use the battery wisely. Apple laptops do say that there are cycles however some companies don't state this yet it does follow suit as all battery have a certain lifetime.
As to your question letting the laptop battery drain as low is good also this will allow for a better discharge giving you a longer use of the unit. Letting the battery sit in the laptop while connected to the computer for weeks at a time and not using the battery does put wear on it I take mine out. Also others will say there is "Memory Batteries" and that you need to let it "Deep Drain" this to get the full usage out of the battery the newer batteries are better made from Lithium where the older batteries were Nimh and NiCd.

What is the best way to store a laptop battery when not in use?
they are not all the same but some really hate it when the voltage drops to low, odds are its best to keep it charged "ish". on each one you will see the lettering to say what the unit is composed of like "Ni Mh" ect enter that in to Google with "maintenance storage" to find out what best for the one you have. ie "ni mh maintenance storage"
If you remove the battery from the laptop and store it accurately, there is a good chance that it will be in good condition when you need it next time.Don’t store a laptop battery that is almost empty. Stored batteries continue losing energy, albeit at a much slower pace. If the stored battery is totally discharged, it could be destroyed.Don’t store a fully charged battery. Fully charged batteries deteriorate faster than half-charged batteries. Most articles I’ve read recommended storing laptop batteries with a 40–60% charge.
Store the battery at a low temperature and a dry place. A moist environment will accelerate discharging the battery. I usually put it in the fridge. It keeps my battery fresh and crisp. Check out this table at Wikipedia. 0°C (32°F) seems to be the best storage temperature.Check the battery state every now and then. I would remove it from the fridge at least every 30 days to calibrate it.
Let the laptop batteries warm up a little before you put it back into your laptop. If the temperature is raised too fast, it will strain the battery.I hope the battery information can keep you using your laptop best.
If I replace it will my computer be faster? How offen do you need to replace your laptop battery?
I would say I've had my laptop for a good 2 1/2 years. Its begining to slow down and Lags alot when I play games on it that work perfectly with my desktop. Do I need to replace my rechargeable battery? If I do will it help with the slowness or just the life of the battery.
Batteries don't have anything to do with the speed of your Laptop. Replace laptop battery only when you want you laptop to have longer life, or when you feel that there's something wrong with the battery. Memory is a minor deal with the speed and the RAM is a major. Too much memory on your computer can slow it down, I suggest using only 3/4 of your memory in your laptop. RAM is the big deal. It stores up cache which also deals with memory. It's also built with the role of speeding up the computer. A 2gb ram should do the trick. Replacing batteries don't speed up the computer. If you already have a 2gb RAM, and your laptop is still slow, i suggest deleting the cache. If that doesn't work, contact a computer specialist/technician.
It will only improve laptop battery life, and how long it lasts on battery power. The lagging shouldnt have much to do with it really. But after 2 1/2 years its probably due a replacement battery anyway..Thats not a problem with your battery, sounds like your memory is getting low on your computer. A new battery wont help it be faster, just last longer when its not plugged up to an outlet.
Your battery has absolutely nothing to do with the speed of your computer. You probably have too many subprograms running or you need to clean your registry. Go into msconfig and turn off any applications that take lots of RAM and you recognize as not being used.
I tried it. I replaced a 234mb ram with a 2gb ram for my desktop computer and it works like heaven. The symptoms you have are not at all related to a bad battery. When a apple laptop battery goes bad, the power it supplies to your laptop diminishes after time. In other words, it may keep the laptop running 2 hours, then 1.5, 1 and so on. Sometimes, bad batteries can also precent the laptop from functioning properly too. If you get ample time on battery power, I am sure yours is fine.
How can i do for my toshiba laptop battery?
I have a Toshiba sate lite m100 and I'm always using my laptop with AC power. and never take it out from power for using with battery. so I just want to know that for not destroying my laptop battery is it better to take the battery out or its better to keep it inside.because some of my friends telling me that battery has got expiry date it would be finished in a specific time and it needs to be charge an discharge at least once in a month.so its better to keep the battery inside ...
And some other telling me that because you are not using the battery and always using the AC power so you need to take it out because battery has got charge limitation and in this case you are always charging it and destroying it.So I'm really confused about that .I would be really appreciated if someone could help me in this case.
Your computer knows when it it fully charged, so you don't need to take it out. However, you need to you the laptop battery oce a month or so to keep the battery good.If you don't use it enough, it will gradually lose its ability to hold a charge. This happened to me. The laptop could only run on battery for 5 min when fully charged because it hadn't been used in several months.
This is a very difficult question to address, as it depends either way. You can do either or, but if you always use AC then it doesn't really matter. So long as you charged it from when it was dead then there should be no problems. Most laptop batteries have a weird charge function where they somehow mess up charge estimates when you haven't drained your battery, so if that's the case you're battery life will be shorter, but it doesn't make it unusable. Additionally, if the battery is full, then the AC should bypass the battery charge completely. So, if you're using AC all the time it shouldn't really matter, depending on how much you want to use it later away from the AC may make a difference, but not significantly.
You need to charge and discharge your batteries atleast once a month , it keeps circulation up.For proper maintenance , it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally.

Make my new laptop battery last?
I want to know some ways I can make my laptop battery last me a long time.so for the first time in five years, I've got a new laptop.I'm liking it so far and one of the reasons I bought it was for its incredible battery life. They claim it can run 9 hours and 45 minutes. From my own use of this thing since yesterday, that estimate is pretty accurate. I'm still running off battery power with an estimated 1 hour of usage left. Now, I want to make this little machine last me a long time, so I'd like to know some good tips for preserving my battery. It's an 8-cell lithium-ion battery.I imagine I'm going to keep it plugged in most of the time, though. Some questions I have about new laptop batteries before anything else:Should I leave my battery in when I'm going to be plugged in most of the time? Can I charge the battery whenever--whether or not it's fully discharged?I just want to get the most out of this battery for as long as possible. I imagine it's going to be another half-decade before I want to consider buying a new one.
Turn off bluetooth and wi=fi while you aren;t using it. Don't keep progrmas running when you aren't using them.Underclock the CPU if applicable.Allow the screen to dim after 60secs.If you won;t be using the laptop for a while put it into hibernate mode (hold shift at the log off options to show hibernate).Mute the sound if you don't need it.Lower the screen brightness.Don't leave media in the drives if you aren't using it.Turn off auto save and any scheduled tasks. If you are using the DC mains then take the battery out.If you are not using the laptop for an extended period of time - over a week. Then take the notebook battery out when it's at about 40% and store it somewhere at a reassonable ambient temperature.Temperature will effect the battery whether it is stored or in use, significant cold or hot temperatures will reduce battery life.btw Hibernate and Stanby are different - Hibernate is the one which will reduce power consumption to a minimum but still allow you to come back to where you left off
Condition all laptop batteries regularly: fully discharging and then fully charging the battery. This should be done at least every few weeks and it will help you maintain the full capacity of the laptop battery. Leaving it plugged into the wall at all times will shorten the life of a battery.
Here are some tips to keep your laptop's battery going for as long as possible.
1.Close the applications you are not using. It will only exhaust your battery.
2.Tune down the volume of your laptop speaker, or put it into mute will save some energy.
3.Turn off the auto-save feature of your unit if not necessary. Frequent saving may overwork your hard drive.
4.Avoid multimedia activities (video, games). They drain laptop batteries super fast.
Branded battery grip from canon compared to those unnamed one
I was contemplating of buying a battery grip for my canon D40. however the canon is so expensive compared to those unnamed brands. i just need your thoughts and comparison regarding these options, branded or unnamed battery grip.
It depends, some people are perfectly happy with there third party grips. I went with Canon because I read a lot of reviews that mentioned that the shutter button on third party grips felt mushy and not quite as nice. In the end Im sure the third party grips work fine and its mostly a matter of aesthetics and just wanting Canon components. Yes its a cheap peace of plastic and not worth the price they charge, but I figure that if Canon is building this thing cheaply, the third party versions can only get worse.
An officially branded canon battery grip may have better ergonomics and a higher resale value down the road, should you choose to sell it later.Although I do not specifically have experience with off-brand battery grips, I have tried off-brand flash, omnibounce, remote shutter switches, a lightsphere-like diffuser, tamron and sigma lenses.I have yet to experience any issues or problems with any of those items.

How can use laptop battery longer?
I noticed that my old laptop battery didn’t hold it’s charge anymore. It would have to be plugged in the entire time otherwise it would shut off and die right away. With my new laptop, I want to make sure that its battery will hold it’s charge and last longer than my older one. What steps should I take or what should I do to make sure it will last?
Most modern laptops have a power save software program built in. This usually automatically manages everything to optimize the performance for what battery life you have left. Although, there are some things you can do yourself to make sure it has a good healthy life. When you charge it, make sure you fully charge it (not 50%, 75% etc.).If you’re working on battery power, try not to run too many power consuming applications (things like full screen games, HD video etc).Last but not least, if you ever want to leave your computer for a short amount of time, never leave it running; you can turn on Hibernation (or sleep on a Mac) which will save your session to disc whilst consuming the least amount of power.
1. When your computer isn’t in use, but you don’t want it turned off, put it in sleep and take out the charger.
2. When it’s off, take out the charger.
3. When it’s fully charged and you’re using it, take it out. When it gets to about half charge, go ahead and plug it in again.
4. Avoid extensive use of the AC adapter in general.
Rechargeable laptop batteries form a ‘memory’ of their use. In all cases of using rechargeables, charge it right out of the box for 24 hours. Then use the battery until it’s power is spent. Recharge and go through the same cycle several times. If you recharge your battery when it is only at 50% on a consistent basis, it will get locked into that lower limit and you will only get 50% of it’s available power. Same with charging. Not charging to full capacity will make it’s upper limit get locked in at less than full.Never leave the battery in your laptop when it’s fully charge and hooked onto the wall.Once the battery is fully charge, take it out of your laptop unless you are going to power your laptop with it.Try to always wait until the battery is low to recharge it as you will minimize the number of cycles (charging and discharging). laptop batteries have a limited number of cycles before they don’t hold a charge.
How long should I charge my drill battery?
It's a Black and Decker KC 1252, 12volt. I have a similar 18volt drill and I charge them for 8 hours. Does it knacker them up to leave them on charge all the time? Should you completely exhaust the drill battery before charging it? Come on you battery experts!
First off I have several battery operated tools up to and including 18v De Walt XRP series and they never take more than 45 minutes to fully charge. Yes it is a good thing to completely run the charge out of them once in awhile but it's not necessary everytime. Don't know what 'knacker' is but it sounds like a limey way of saying, 'will it screw them up?' the answer is no. They are designed to quit accepting a charge once they are fully charged.
Ni-cad batteries have a memory and they should be fairly discharged before recharging. Lithium-ion batteries do not have a memory and you can recharge them whenever. The charger should be smart enough to quit charging when they fully charge the batteries. They will cut back to a trickle charge. I use a 18V DeWalt and it works great, plenty of torque and a good battery life.
Can I use the pentax ist battery grip with a Samsung gx-1l?
Can I use the pentax ist battery grip with a Samsung gx-1l?Just received one as a gift and was told its the same brand Samsung GX-1l is just a re-brand of the Pentax ist DL. Does anyone know if the battery grip for the pentax will work with the samsung.
I don't think Pentax ever made an official grip for their *ist DL DSLR. It made one for the *ist D but the base plate port was later removed rendering the Pentax BG-1 unusable with the newer and cheaper models like the DL, DS, and DS2 and their Samsung counterparts.
If you are talking about a third-party grip, they should be interchangeable (*ist DL with GX-1L). The shutter grips like the Dicain SG-1 only connect through the cable release port while battery grips like the OwnUser adaptation uses the DC IN and the cable release ports. The GX-1L is nearly identical to the *ist and have both of these universal ports. The Dicain SG-1 has been confirmed to work with the GX-1L and the OwnUser grip should work too. Because these DSLR models were never designed or intended for grips, ugliness seems to be an unfortunate attribute of such aftermarket products.
Any advice on prolonging an HP dv2000 Pavilion battery?
My HP dv2000 Pavilion battery only lasts 20 minutes and have ordered a new one, If it's like my brother’s HP dv3000 laptop battery, it made a vast difference to (1) fetch a 12-cell instead of a 6-cell and (2) "exercise" the batteries often by running them to near drained, and then charging them back up (a scientist buddy of mine suggested this.calisthenics for batteries?).
Li-ion laptop batteries are quite hardy, so they don't have the 'memory' problem. Some people make the mistake of completely draining the battery (which is bad) before charging, but this is not neccesary. Charge it whenever you want, but never discharge it completely. Also, once every 2 months (or every 30 charge cycles), you should calibrate your battery by deliberately running down the battery until the laptop shuts itself off, then recharge it fully.
The purpose of this task is to make sure the laptop battery gauge remains accurate.Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot car. For prolonged storage, keep the battery at a 40% charge level.Consider removing the battery from a laptop when running on fixed power. (Some laptop manufacturers are concerned about dust and moisture accumulating inside the battery casing.)
