HP 510 Battery problem

I have for 2 months HP 510, which I'm using just for surfing and watching dvd movies. My problem is that I can't controll the power of consumption of my HP 510 laptop battery. I have installed Notebook Hardware Control and decreased the cpu speed, but it's useless. My battery runs out for 1h and 22 min, without making difference whether it's working on full power or 800mhz. The battery runs out time is still the same. Do you have any suggestions? Or recommendations what shall I do? A two years ago, I used to have Acer laptop with acer power management technology that controls all the power and process in the notebook, and with this software I use the laptop more than 3 hours. Do you know similar program for HP notebooks? Thanks in advance for the help.

Win xp does all the power management for you. A 3rd party utility is not needed. Go to power Options in the Control panel and check your settings .

That being said ..I just got a HP 510 .Unit runs cool and quiet. Battery life so far it pathetic with 1:20 given by the power meter. But battery has not gone through a full disharge - charge cycle yet. Lio-ion need at least 5 or so to hit their peak . HP does sell a 6 cell version of this 4 cell battery. The fact that your seeing 1:22 ..same as me is worrying . HP specs show:"Up to 2 hours and 45 minutes" !!

I'm assuming your running winXP and have the Pentium M chip (Centrino ) ?
The Celeron version and free Dos ..will not do as well.HP specs 2hrs for the Celeron and Winxp.

I fully agree with you, but I really don't understand, why the laptop battery is so pathetic. Than thing that I have seen is that when you put the power scheme on max battery, the battery run out for approximately 1h 50min, nevermind that is alway showing 1h 22 min. Some how this power meter is not accurate at all. Why is that happened?
Seems like your battery is not getting a full charge. It might be damaged. If your 510 came with FreeDos, then you can NOT run HNC ( Hardware notebook control ) as its a win2k / winxp program. Is Intels speedstep function enabled in your Bios ? Again if your running Winxp ..power management is built in .with Win2k ..get Intels Speedstep utility. In theory being enabled in the Bios ...Speedstep should not require being installed.

Zolwang.com has some addtional reviews . More people unhappy reshort battery life, you can go to know how to expand your HP 510 14.4v 4400mah laptop battery life.
