ACER laptop battery problem
My acer5580 can only be used when the AC is plugged in. And when the AC is plugged in, it doesn't charge at all.But the plug-looking icon at the taskbar says "Maximum performance 255% remaining".When I check the battery information from Acer ePower Management, remaining battery life says, "AC only", and further details look like this:
Battery remaining:
Battery Life in standby mode ~
Battery Life in hibernation mode ~
Before all of this has happened...
3 months ago: the battery life got stuck at 54%
1 month ago: the battery life got stuck at 33%
1 week ago: the battery life got stuck at 4%
now: when I remove the AC, the laptop turns off (like the battery's dead).what could be the problem?
Your best bet is to get a new battery. A new one can be had on eBay for around $40.As a future note, to prevent your battery from dying very quickly (all batteries experience wear and tear from normal use), remove it when you do have your AC adapter plugged in. Never let the charge drop to a very low level (20% is my rule). To maximize the battery's life, drain it once a week to 80%, then charge it back up again. And my brother have the same problem with his Acer 5920, and have done from day one. It will hold charge for maximum 10 minutes.
At the end,my father tell us that Its very common in laptops for the charger to stop working. Also if your battery goes dead flat, good chance that will damage the battery. You would assume the laptop is faulty in the charger, and you also may need a new battery for your best needs.
