How to trace the DELL Laptop owner from its battery Number information?
I bought a Brand New Dell Laptop Inspiron and after a presentation in a college, I left it for a while for lunch break during which, my laptop battery has been replaced with another lower version old battery . After two weeks, when I checked for the power it was not working and to my surprise, I found that the battery numbers inside the battery slot and the number that is pasted on the battery itself were not matching and I realised that I have been cheated by somebody. Is there any way to find out the culprit by tracking the battery number which is pasted on the battery.
It only will apply if someone goes to get it (battery) repaired or diagnosed. the person that stole your laptop battery already has the same make and model as you, thats why it got swapped.Your screwd. just break down and buy a new battery. there isnt a way for you to track them down, Dell's not giving data away. Also, because its a new battery, and they wont have problems with it for awhile, After your support expires.lessons learned, dont leave stuff lying around or atleast not locked up, or downsize and get a mini/netbook and haul that around instead.
First,Check if that's how it is, maybe you just have a defective battery, if not then perhaps, but you can narrow down the number of people who could have stolen it by seeing who owns a dell, obviously, in case you didn't know that. Secondly, the physical appearances of dell batteries have changed over time, so since the battery you have is probably a year or two old, you can match the battery that you have in your possession with the inspiron model numbers that use that specific battery model. This should also narrow down the list of Dell inspiron computer users to the specific inspiron models that use that battery. If you're lucky you should be able to narrow it down to a handful of people who still take care of their laptops and havent gotten it stolen.
However, you must also consider the possibility that the person who stole your battery also had their battery stolen which would lead you to a dead end.
