Make my new laptop battery last?
I want to know some ways I can make my laptop battery last me a long time.so for the first time in five years, I've got a new laptop.I'm liking it so far and one of the reasons I bought it was for its incredible battery life. They claim it can run 9 hours and 45 minutes. From my own use of this thing since yesterday, that estimate is pretty accurate. I'm still running off battery power with an estimated 1 hour of usage left. Now, I want to make this little machine last me a long time, so I'd like to know some good tips for preserving my battery. It's an 8-cell lithium-ion battery.I imagine I'm going to keep it plugged in most of the time, though. Some questions I have about new laptop batteries before anything else:Should I leave my battery in when I'm going to be plugged in most of the time? Can I charge the battery whenever--whether or not it's fully discharged?I just want to get the most out of this battery for as long as possible. I imagine it's going to be another half-decade before I want to consider buying a new one.
Turn off bluetooth and wi=fi while you aren;t using it. Don't keep progrmas running when you aren't using them.Underclock the CPU if applicable.Allow the screen to dim after 60secs.If you won;t be using the laptop for a while put it into hibernate mode (hold shift at the log off options to show hibernate).Mute the sound if you don't need it.Lower the screen brightness.Don't leave media in the drives if you aren't using it.Turn off auto save and any scheduled tasks. If you are using the DC mains then take the battery out.If you are not using the laptop for an extended period of time - over a week. Then take the notebook battery out when it's at about 40% and store it somewhere at a reassonable ambient temperature.Temperature will effect the battery whether it is stored or in use, significant cold or hot temperatures will reduce battery life.btw Hibernate and Stanby are different - Hibernate is the one which will reduce power consumption to a minimum but still allow you to come back to where you left off
Condition all laptop batteries regularly: fully discharging and then fully charging the battery. This should be done at least every few weeks and it will help you maintain the full capacity of the laptop battery. Leaving it plugged into the wall at all times will shorten the life of a battery.
Here are some tips to keep your laptop's battery going for as long as possible.
1.Close the applications you are not using. It will only exhaust your battery.
2.Tune down the volume of your laptop speaker, or put it into mute will save some energy.
3.Turn off the auto-save feature of your unit if not necessary. Frequent saving may overwork your hard drive.
4.Avoid multimedia activities (video, games). They drain laptop batteries super fast.
