Without battery when use laptop AC adapter
I've run other laptops using the Notebook AC Adapter while the battery was not installed in the laptop. Never seemed to cause any problems. When I do this with the XO I notice the adapter gets warmer then any other adapter I've used. Is what I'm doing harmful to the XO or the adapter?I run without the battery at home so when I take the XO away from my desk I know the battery is fully charged.
My friend Jack has run one XO without the battery for about 10 hours per day, 7 days a week for a year and there does not appear to be a problem. His power module runs no hotter than the power module on his Linksys wireless access point, Linksys router or cable modem; however, the display is at minimum brightness or blanked most of the time. The power module does run hotter than the others if a discharged battery is charging and the XO is being used.
So I'll bet the hot adapter only happens when I'm using it and charging the battery at the same time. Of course,if I want to buy an new notebook ac adapter,I will go to laptop ac adapter online store buy it.Below is the most popular online battery stores:
